Hewlett Packard (HP) HP Deskwriter 600 printer, Version 9.4.1 Driver. DeskWriter 600 Series Printer Driver

HP DeskWriter 600 Series Printer Driver for Macintosh QuickDraw. This driver replaces version 9.4. This driver should eliminate the error dialog "The printer is not responding. Make sure that the current port is selected in the Chooser and that the printer is properly connected and turned on. Click Cancel to terminate printing." which occurs when trying to print from a G3 system over a serial connection using the existing driver. The driver supports the following HP printers: HP DeskWriter 600, HP DeskWriter 660C, HP DeskWriter 680C, and HP DeskWriter 694C. System requirements for using the version 9.4.1 driver: 68030, 68040 or PowerPC processor, System 7.1 or newer (including System 8.0), 4 MB RAM on 680x0 machines, and at least 8 MB RAM on the MAC PowerPC, and also 4 MB of free hard disk space. Installation Instructions: Note: The version 9.4.1 driver was "bin-hexed" using DropStuff. BinHex is an encoding format that allows electronic transfer of MAC format files. They have a .hqx file extension. It will require the use of StuffIt Expander to de-encode or "de-bin-hex" the encoded driver file once it is downloaded to your hard drive. Some web browsers will contain a copy of this freeware utility. If the web browser you use does not contain StuffIt Expander, you may learn about it from the www.aladdinsys.com web site. You will have to obtain a copy of a bin-hex de-coder utility like StuffIt Expander external from the web (floppy disk or over a network), and install it on your System. The following steps assume you have the StuffIt Expander utility on your System. 1) Download the driver (.hqx) file to your hard drive using a web browser. 2) StuffIt Expander will automatically expand the .hqx file into the driver installer folder. 3) Open the driver installer folder and double-click on the installer icon to launch the driver installation. 4) Follow the instructions on the screen to completion, then select the printer in the Chooser menu.
