It should be used on computers that are directly connected to the printer from the computer's parallel port. If you are using Windows 98 and intend to use USB, or if you intend to alternate between a USB and parallel connection, please download the driver titled "HP DeskJet 970 Series Printer Driver v2.3.2 FOR HOME USERS - USB Connection" and follow the installation directions under "Tell Me More" for that driver.
Installation instructions:
Before you download create a directory on your hard drive: c:\dj970.
CD to c:\dj970.
Download the driver to c:\dj970.
Double-click on the exe.
